It's Earth Day - stand up for the Clean Power Plan!
Oregon is a special place to raise a family.
We can walk on the beach, hike in the forests, sled in the mountains, or spend summer days at one of our many lakes or rivers. In Oregon, we have an abundance of natural treasures to appreciate and enjoy.
We’re able to enjoy all of this because courageous Oregonians took responsibility for the future and fought for landmark policies to protect our land, water, and air.
Today Oregonians continue to take the lead – and we’ve turned our sights on climate change.
But when it comes to climate change, no single state or nation can stand alone. It will take a united effort to slow rising temperatures and extreme weather caused by climate change.
And that’s why President Obama’s Clean Power Plan is so important. It not only sets an example for other countries to follow; it also slashes carbon emission from dirty coal-fired electric plants – the largest single source – by 32% by 2030.
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has blocked this plan – and climate change isn’t going to wait for a slow resolution.
I’ve joined my colleagues in supporting President Obama’s Clean Power Plan – but we need you too!
With appreciation,
