Petition: Stop gun violence
Each and every week, there is more carnage and violence in the news. One thing remains clear: gun safety legislation would save lives.
After too many deaths and no action by Congress, many of us held a sit-in on the House floor to demand a vote on common sense legislation to prevent gun violence.
We didn't get a vote. Instead, the Speaker turned off the cameras and called a recess.
The attempt to silence our voices did not stop us. Sign the petition: tell Congress to take action to stop gun violence!
We should listen to the American people, most of whom support these commonsense policies. We should pass universal background checks, fund lifesaving gun violence prevention research, and reinstate the assault weapons ban. It starts with a debate and a vote.
