It's SIMPLE

Millions of borrowers are in default on their student loans. 70% of borrowers in default from the government’s largest student loan program would have qualified for lower payments. Not only that, many people enrolled in income-based repayment plans do not successfully renew their plan because the re-enrollment process is unnecessarily complicated.

Defaulting on a student loan can have long-term consequences on credit reports, so I’ve introduced the SIMPLE Act (Streamlining Income-driven, Manageable Payments on Loans for Education Act). SIMPLE will help more borrowers get into income-based repayment plans and it will help them avoid payment increases and default by automating the renewal process.

This is just another step toward making college more attainable and more affordable. A college degree should help people build their future – not hold them back.

Thank you for standing with me.
