Pro-Choice Champion

At a time when anti-choice extremists are trying to roll back women’s reproductive rights, Suzanne Bonamici has stood up for us. She’s strongly opposed the dangerous attempts to defund Planned Parenthood and she’s leading the charge to repeal the Hyde Amendment and make safe, legal abortion accessible to all women.

Recognizing the need to expand access, she introduced the 21st Century Women’s Health Act to make comprehensive preventive health services, including full access to contraceptive coverage, available for all women - including those served by Medicaid. But that’s not all. She’s also led her colleagues in advocating for the Department of Health & Human Services to follow Oregon’s lead and require insurance companies to cover birth control for 12 months at a time.

And because of these efforts, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon recognized Suzanne’s leadership with the Marilyn Epstein Pro-Choice Champion Award!
