In 29 states throughout the country it is legal to discriminate against employees and job applicants because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In many of those states a same-sex couple can legally get married, but still face workplace discrimination without legal recourse.
A strong bipartisan majority in the Senate has voted to put an end to workplace discrimination against LGBT Americans by passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Now, it’s time for the House to act.
ENDA is closely modeled on civil rights laws already on the books, extending those basic employment protections to all Americans. It’s a common sense bill with broad support. Let’s bring it to a vote in the House and send it to the President’s desk!
