This might be scary

This might be scary

Many Oregonians will spend this afternoon with their kids, preparing costumes and getting ready for Halloween festivities. I have fond memories of doing the same with my kids, and now I have a great time greeting the little witches and ghosts who trick-or-treat in my neighborhood.

There will be some frightening costumes and spooky haunted houses this year, but at least they’re just pretend - unlike many of the real scary situations American families face.

For instance, I recently learned that 25 percent of new moms have to go back to work just two weeks after giving birth because the U.S. is the only industrialized country without paid parental leave. Just two weeks! As a mother, I know how scary that must be.

I'm fighting for policies like paid leave to support children and help working families thrive. Please stand with me by chipping in right away!

With appreciation,
