In the aftermath of the tragic shooting in Colorado, we should put politics aside and work to ensure the safety of all health clinics. But sadly, the political attacks on Planned Parenthood continue.

In Congressional hearing rooms and during presidential debates, anti-choice fanatics are painting a horrific and false picture of Planned Parenthood. And once again, there is talk of voting on bills that will completely defund Planned Parenthood and hurt millions of women and men who get essential health care services there.

These attacks and the extreme rhetoric are harmful to the staff at Planned Parenthood and to all of the people across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for health care. And it’s especially frustrating when Congress should be focused on keeping the government open and making sure we have strong schools and a growing middle class. Instead, we are still debating taking critical health care services away from countless women and men around the country.
