Why I'm running
In high school, my favorite teacher was Ms. Dorrian, who taught English. She inspired all of us to be creative and to love reading and writing.
All students deserve a high quality education that engages and develops both halves of their brains. They need core lessons in math, science, and history, but they also need opportunities to participate in music, art, and physical education. It's time to move beyond the high stakes testing regime of No Child Left Behind and implement policies that will allow our students to become the innovators who will lead our country into the 21st century.
Providing every child with a well-rounded education is one of the top reasons I ran for the state legislature and it still motivates my work today.
Replacing No Child Left Behind and ending the one-sized fits all practices was a step forward, but there’s still more to do – like increasing early childhood education and programs that get kids ready for school, and making higher education more affordable. I’m going to keep working for a better future for all of our students.
I’ve just filed for re-election and have set a goal to kick-start my campaign with 100 individual donations by the end of February. Please stand with me: chip in today!
Thank you,
