Bonamici, Amodei Join Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) and Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV) joined the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus this week. The Caucus was founded earlier this year and is the first of its kind to bring together Democrats and Republicans to discuss climate issues.

“We are seeing the effects of the changing climate across the country and around the globe," said Congresswoman Bonamici, who is the top Democrat on the Science Committee’s Subcommittee on the Environment. "In northwest Oregon, the ocean is becoming more acidic and the rising temperatures are affecting wine producers in the Willamette Valley. I’m committed to addressing climate change, which is one of the most pressing issues of our generation. Finding solutions will require all of our creativity, collaboration, and courage—but one thing we don’t need is partisanship. I look forward to working with Congressman Amodei and the rest of the Climate Solutions Caucus on addressing this critical issue together.”

“In order to legislate effectively, Washington must have a willingness to have frank and honest discussions on the issues that affect us all,” said Congressman Amodei. “I’m pleased to be joining the Climate Solutions Caucus with Congresswoman Bonamici and I look forward to joining the rest of my colleagues in examining fact-based policy and research.”

The bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus is a coalition of House members working on policy options that address the effects, causes, and challenges of our changing climate. The Caucus meets regularly and educates members on economically viable options that reduce climate risk and protect the nation’s economy, security, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, and public safety.
