They're targeting schools and places of worship

There are some places in our community that should be safe for everyone — regardless of their immigration status. Imagine a mother who can’t take her sick child to the hospital because she’s afraid of deportation.

Imagine an elderly Oregonian who yearns to seek solace in a church, synagogue, or mosque, but doesn’t feel safe enough to go.

Imagine victims of domestic violence who stay at home with their abusers because they feel powerless to call the police.

The Trump administration has taken a hard-line stance on immigration that’s contrary to American values. I will continue to fight for comprehensive immigration reform. In the meantime, I’m doing everything I can to resist these harmful policies and to keep everyone in our community safe.

Seeking police assistance or accessing health care is critical to that commitment. We are all responsible for the safety of our community and our neighbors.
