Environmental policy set by a former coal lobbyist?
The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. But right now, it seems like the mission is to ignore science and let industry polluters set the agenda. The Trump administration and the EPA are in an all-out assault on public health, clean air and water, and scientific research.
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt was run out of town. But acting director and former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler is every bit as anti-environment as Pruitt.
Even worse, Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's environmental record is right in line with Pruitt and Wheeler's. If he is confirmed for this lifetime appointment, we could see the reversal of environmental protections that would be felt for generations.
The Trump administration's agenda of profits over people and the environment is destructive and disgusting. Rollbacks to emission standards, refusing to ban harmful neurotoxic pesticides, lifting regulations on air pollution, expanding offshore drilling: it all adds up to financial windfalls for the industry but harm to our people and our planet.
I will always be a strong voice in opposition to the forces that threaten public health and the environment.
With appreciation,
Suzanne
