confronting climate change
We are seeing – and feeling – the effects of climate change everywhere.
We've felt in the record-high temperatures scorching us this summer, we've seen it in the raging fires that have consumed the West Coast, and we've suffered it in the increasingly devastating storms that have ravaged millions of Americans, especially those living on our coasts.
The effects are clear, and they're getting worse. It's long past time for Congress to take meaningful action to protect our environment and create a clean energy economy.
Ever since Trump took office, however, his administration has been damaging – not protecting – our environment. Trump is trying to pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Accord, and just recently he eliminated the crucial vehicle fuel emission standards the Obama administration implemented to cut fuel consumption.
I'm proud to be part of the Climate Solutions Caucus, as well as the top Democrat on the Science Committee's Environment Subcommittee. I refuse to stand by while climate change deniers and their fossil fuel friends and lobbyists ignore the damage they are doing to our air and our water.
In this administration, defending our planet won't be easy. But as your representative, I will never stop fighting to address climate change, so we can begin to heal the planet for generations to come.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
