Spreading lies and instigating fear
Last night, the president failed to address some of the most pressing matters facing our country.
Instead, he used his platform to spread more hate toward immigrants in our communities and attack the right of women to make their own healthcare decisions. He spread lies and instigated fear.
I won't repeat his hateful words, but I will tell you that I am ready to fight back against every one of his harmful policy proposals.
But it wasn't all bad – I was proud to join my Democratic women colleagues in wearing "suffragette white" on the House floor, and we applauded the mention of a record number of women in Congress. I was inspired by the words of Stacey Abrams, who gave a powerful response to the speech, and I was honored to be joined by my guest, Alexandria Goddard, a Portland State University student and gun violence prevention activist.
It's time for commonsense solutions that bring our nation together. I'm ready.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
