When you think of "home"

What does home mean to you? For many people, a home is where they raise their children, seek respite from long days, and create memories.

We can't underestimate the importance of housing security. Without a stable home, it's hard to find a job, focus in school, and stay healthy. And right now, our country faces a housing crisis.

The crisis is preventing families in the U.S. from accessing affordable housing. Some are forced to work multiple jobs and make tremendous sacrifices -- just so they can have a roof over their heads.

Urge Congress to pass affordable housing legislation immediate. Sign our petition.

We're seeing the ramifications of the housing crisis at home in Oregon and across the country. But we can take action in the U.S. House of Representatives right now. An upcoming affordable housing bill could:

  • provide loan assistance and grants for communities previously targeted by segregation and redlining;
  • support local communities by bringing mortgage assistance to communities that have historically been denied;
  • fight discrimination by expanding the rights of Americans under the Fair Housing Act;
  • and fund millions of affordable housing units, paid for by making common-sense reforms to our nation's tax system.

It's time for fairness. It's time for more affordable housing options across America. Sign the petition and urge my colleagues in Congress to pass affordable housing legislation immediately.
