Resources for Parents this Mother's Day

Parents need support now more than ever. In a recent webinar with the Children's Institute, we discussed four key things you can do to support children during this pandemic:

  • Establish routines to create structure and help regulate your kid's emotions.
  • Play is how children learn, so help them experience joy and curiosity every day.
  • Promote social connection — even during this time of physical distancing, like video chatting with friends, families or neighbors.

Make sure there is time when you can give your children undivided attention. Having moments where it's just you and your child reminds them that they are important and safe.

Elena Rivera, a Senior Health Policy and Program Advisor with the Children's Institute, joined us on the webinar. We spoke about trauma and resilience in children, strategies to help families thrive, and the inequities magnified by the pandemic.
