What working families need
If we want to restore our economy and rebuild infrastructure, we need to talk about child care.
Working families need child care; that's not up for debate. So how do we deliver the support they need in these difficult times?
The American Jobs Plan, our infrastructure package currently being debated in Congress, is a key part of the solution.
We must increase the number of available, affordable child care spots, AND make sure that child care workers are paid a living wage for educating the next generation.
I wholeheartedly support bipartisan cooperation when possible, but we also have to make progress. The American people elected us to get a job done, and Republicans in the House and Senate have shown that they're willing to do almost anything to thwart our progressive policies.
We need more child care so working families can thrive. There are many proposals to solve this challenge, and I'm working hard to get help over the finish line for moms, kids, and families.
I look forward to voting for a strong, progressive infrastructure package, with billions to rebuild America. And I'll keep fighting to make meaningful investments in child care for the next generation.
