Exactly what we need to be doing right now
What we need right now is a massive public investment here in Oregon and for everyone who calls this country their home.
We need to Invest in America, and we passed a plan that will do just that.
This major investment will meaningfully address our transportation needs, help mitigate the climate crisis, and create good-paying jobs.
This bill includes five of the critical transportation projects I have championed for NW Oregon. For example, the Invest in America Act will fund:
- More support for the Newberg-Dundee Bypass;
- A Beaverton Downtown Loop — which will expand pedestrian and cycling access in a traditionally underserved community;
- A pedestrian route in Warrenton so students can safely walk to school;
- Critical, long-overdue safety upgrades to the Tualatin Valley Highway; and
- Helpful improvements to downtown Portland to ease traffic congestion and support public transit.
With the Invest in America Act we will also reduce emissions and meaningfully address the climate crisis by investing in zero-emission buses and natural infrastructure. Projects like these create jobs, address equity in long-underserved communities, and make us all healthier and safer.
We can — and we will — build back better. Oregonians and the American people deserve it.
