We can't waste another minute
Right now, nearly half a million American families don't have reliable child care. We don't adequately support children in our country, which makes the likely Supreme Court decision overruling Roe v. Wade even more dangerous and harmful.
Providing every young child with the opportunity to attend a quality child care program or preschool without burdensome financial strain on their families is a matter of equity and a good investment.
We must support our children and our nation's working families. And we must act now.
I am fighting in Congress to pass our plan to limit child care costs to 7 percent of a family's annual income, and provide a living wage for child care workers.
The average child care worker's pay is only $12.24 per hour, which is not a living wage. Taking care of children is important work, but it's no surprise that we have a shortage of child care workers.
Children are the future. Studies show that the first five years of a child's life are crucial to their development.
I will continue the fight to pass our child care agenda, which will provide affordable child care and a living wage to the people who care for our kids.
Thank you for standing with me and for our children,
Suzanne
