Premeditated and planned

I vividly remember every minute of January 6, 2021. It was terrifying and, at the same time, profoundly infuriating.

It still feels unbelievable that, in our lifetime, a violent mob attempted to stop the peaceful transfer of presidential power.

This week the House Select Committee to Investigate January 6 is continuing its public hearings. Although the hearings have been disturbing to watch, it is imperative that all Americans know the truth from that dark day. This attack was deliberate and planned; it was not a protest that got out of control.

One thing is clear after the first hearings: Our democracy is fragile, and it must be defended.

We must learn the entire truth. We must hold those involved accountable, no matter who they are. We must stand together. We must protect our democracy.

I encourage you to watch the hearings as they continue throughout this month. This will be remembered as a difficult time in our history, but we will get through it together.
