Families are in limbo
Ever since the disastrous Dobbs decision severely limited the right to abortion, anti-choice extremists have been working overtime to make a bad situation worse.
The recent decision from the Alabama Supreme Court challenging access to IVF and classifying embryos as human beings further threatened reproductive rights and freedom.
And this week, the Supreme Court heard a case challenging mifepristone, the medication abortion drug that's been used safely for more than 20 years.
With the mifepristone case, SCOTUS could tighten access or outlaw mifepristone nationally, even in states like Oregon where abortion is legal. Extremists are seeing this case as another step toward a national abortion ban by trying to outlaw abortion medication (or even contraception) from being transported through the mail.
Families are in limbo, and many people seeking care are running out of options.
A large majority of Americans support the right to abortion, and most back the right to use IVF. Republicans are determined to circumvent the will of the people with policies that are obviously at odds with most Americans. It's undemocratic and dangerous.
There are few decisions more personal than whether or when to bear a child, and we will not allow politicians or judges to make those personal decisions for Oregonians and Americans. And we will not allow patients, doctors, or clinics to be criminalized for providing abortion care, contraception, or IVF.
Thank you for standing with me,
