Let’s cut child poverty in half again
During the early days of the pandemic, Democrats passed an enhanced child tax credit to provide crucial support to millions of families and children.
That child tax credit was so successful that it actually cut the rate of child poverty in this country in half. Sixteen million kids – 160,000 right here in Oregon – benefited from more money for food, shelter, and other important expenses. But unfortunately, the credit expired.
Since then, I've been working to reinstate this enhanced child tax credit. Families must have the basic resources they need to take care of themselves, contribute to the economy, and lead fulfilling lives.
But my colleagues on the far right would rather give tax cuts to the wealthy and huge corporations than do what's right for kids and families. Extremists and obstructionists are stalling the passage of the child tax credit bill and leaving vulnerable families with little hope.
As long as I am in Congress, I will keep focusing on kids and families and delivering for the American people.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
