We all do better when we all do better

Too many people in our country are struggling to make ends meet, and it's clear the economy is not working for everyone. Voters are rightly looking to their leaders, especially the presidential candidates, to create more economic opportunity and lower costs.

During her "closing argument" speech, Kamala Harris laid out some changes we will see under her presidency and reminded us why she is the right choice to lead our country toward a better future. On day one, she will tackle her economic to-do list, starting with:

Lowering Costs: By addressing price gouging, building strong supply chains, and revitalizing competition, Kamala Harris will work to reduce the rising costs of groceries and other consumer goods.

Supporting Families and Caregivers: Kamala Harris will institute a federal paid family and medical leave policy so families will not have to choose between taking care of loved ones or losing a paycheck. And by increasing the Child Tax Credit and allowing Medicare to cover long-term home care, we can create more flexibility and support for families.

Helping First-Time Homebuyers: As President, Kamala Harris will raise the first-time homebuyer tax credit to $25,000 to help make housing more affordable and support young people who want their shot at the American Dream.

Investing in Small Local Businesses: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. By cutting red tape and providing economic assistance, more small businesses will have the support they need to get off the ground and thrive in a Harris administration.

Making Child Care Affordable. Child care is unaffordable for too many working families. The Harris administration will cap those expenses at 7 percent of household income.

We all do better when we all do better. Supporting the American people means enacting policies that help children and families thrive. As you fill out your ballots – and remind your friends and family to fill out and return theirs too – think about the better future we will create together with President Kamala Harris and Vice President Tim Walz.

Thank you for standing with me in support of the Harris/Walz ticket!
