Changing our strategy, but not our mission External

I'm incredibly disappointed by the election results, and I know many of you are too.

Donald Trump and the Republicans will hold the White House for four years. They'll have the majority in the Senate, and a slim majority in the House of Representatives.

It's clear that the Democratic party's message did not resonate with enough voters, especially when it comes to rising costs and the economy. We need to do better to find new and creative ways to communicate, including through different platforms. I am committed to having tough conversations, amplifying new voices, and earning back the votes of so many who understandably feel the system isn't working for them.

But I want to make one thing abundantly clear: I will always stand up for vulnerable people and communities being targeted by the Trump administration. We are in this fight together and I am standing with you.

It was a tough night, but we worked together to achieve a few victories we should recognize. Seven states, including Montana and Missouri, voted to enshrine reproductive rights into law. Janelle Bynum flipped Oregon's 5th District and I'm excited to have her join us in the House. We also held onto important Democratic seats across the Pacific Northwest. And Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ran a campaign based on joy, opportunity, and hope for the future. That's something to be proud of.

I have always worked to find common ground with my colleagues to pass legislation that improves the lives of Oregonians and Americans, and that will never change. If House Republicans continue their extremist, hateful, and chaotic agenda, I will do everything in my power to block harmful legislation and be a relentless check on the Trump administration.

In Oregon, we protect rights and expand freedoms, and during the next four years, I'll fight to keep it that way.

If you can, take time to rest and regroup. Find your community, spend time with friends and family, and look forward to the upcoming holidays. Together, we will stand up and fight again.

Thank you for standing with me,

Suzanne
