Fund Head Start, not tax cuts for billionaires

President Trump says he wants women to have more babies, but his self-appointed, unelected, head of DOGE and MAGA Republicans are putting about 700,000 preschoolers at risk of losing access to Head Start.

Head Start opens doors of opportunity for working parents in Oregon and across the country. They're open early mornings and late afternoons. They offer early childhood education, and many sites include food assistance, well-child visits, dental check-ups, and more. Importantly, they engage families and offer programs that help moms and dads become better parents.

Since it began 60 years ago this week, Head Start has put millions of kids on a path to becoming lifelong learners and critical thinkers. For some parents, it's the only affordable child care available.

Eliminating or cutting Head Start will put pressure on parents, strain tight budgets, and disproportionately keep women out of the workforce.

But Trump and the Republicans are looking for ways to pay for tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk.

If they want to be family-friendly, they should support universal preschool, paid family leave, and affordable child care.

It's up to us to stop them. If we can flip the House, we can retake the reins from Trump and his Republican followers, block their legislation, and fully fund Head Start and critical programs that open doors of opportunity for working families. Can you help us get there by chipping in $9 today?

There is no better investment than our nation's children – and I will keep fighting to protect and expand preschool and Head Start, paid family leave, affordable childcare, and more.

Thank you for standing with me,

Suzanne
