This legislation will curb ICE’s abusive tactics
My job is to do what's best for the people I represent and pass policies that make their lives better.
When I'm out in my neighborhood or grocery shopping, many people tell me that they're concerned about the future. They want affordable health care and housing, funding for education and public libraries, a healthy planet, and protection of free speech and civil rights. What they don't want is a rogue administration snatching people off the streets, separating children from their parents, and defying the Constitution.
So I've introduced legislation to curb ICE's abusive, authoritarian tactics.
With my legislation, ICE agents will need to clearly identify themselves so they can be held accountable. Importantly, there will not be any military enforcement of immigration laws unless the Mayor and Governor specifically request that assistance.
I'm focused on turning things around next November. I won't sit by while anyone is cruelly, unfairly, or illegally targeted by ICE. But to put a check on this administration and halt its cruel actions, we need to win back the House in 2026.
More soon,
Suzanne
