Vote-by-mail is easy, secure, and accessible
The SAVE Act is voter suppression, plain and simple.
The Senate is currently considering this harmful legislation, which will stop millions of eligible voters from exercising their right as citizens to participate in elections. It's especially harmful to women who changed their name after marriage, but would also make it harder – if not impossible – for people who live in rural areas, those who can't afford a passport, or anyone who has fled domestic violence and does not have easy access to their birth certificate or marriage license.
Donald Trump and congressional Republicans know their policies are unpopular, and they won't win without suppressing the vote. To make things worse, they are trying to justify the SAVE Act by spreading lies about voter fraud by people who are undocumented, which they can't prove because it is not a real issue – the real threat to democracy is the SAVE Act.
I urge the Senate to stop this harmful legislation.
I will fight any bill or amendment that tries to stop eligible voters from casting their ballots. Here in Oregon, vote-by-mail is safe, easy, secure, and accessible – and all citizens deserve a system as good as ours.
These anti-democratic policies have no place in our country. Thank you for standing up and speaking out to protect our right to vote by mail in Oregon and across the country.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
