Oregonians paved the way for vote-by-mail
Donald Trump issued an executive order trying to end vote-by-mail.
It's absurd and unconstitutional.
This is not the job of the President. Elections are run by states, and Oregon decided decades ago that we would vote by mail. We have one of the safest, most convenient, and most secure systems in the country.
In 1998, we became the first state to vote exclusively by mail with overwhelming support from Oregonians. Proudly, our state has one of the highest rates of voter turnout.
Oregon is leading the court challenge against this illegal executive order. It's not within the president's power to decide how state elections are run, and I find it especially ironic that Trump just voted by mail a few weeks ago in a local election in Florida.
I will never stop fighting to protect democracy and strengthen our right to vote.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
