Economic opportunity for all

Paid leave is about economic opportunity for all.

This Mother's Day weekend, I am amplifying my efforts to turn the House blue so we can pass a comprehensive, paid federal leave policy for childbirth, illness, caregiving, and bereavement.

No one should have to choose between taking care of themselves or others and losing a paycheck.

American women are disproportionately burdened by these responsibilities and are much more likely to leave the workforce to fulfill these obligations.

The United States is one of the only industrialized countries without a paid family and medical leave policy. That must end.

A few states have a paid leave law on the books, but most don't. Not having paid leave is especially hard on low-income families, women of color, disabled workers, and more.

I will keep fighting for change that helps children and families thrive, supports greater economic freedom for women, and closes the gender equity gap. We've made progress, but we have a long way to go.

Thank you for standing with me,

Suzanne
